Facing Valleggia ,on the other side of the Quiliano stream, coming after the remains of a beautiful walk of ancient cypresses, there is St. Peter in Carpignano a little church named by local people “S: Pe di col”. The big fortresse of the XVI century, which afterwards was turned into a prison where Giuseppe Mazzini was confined, at present it is opened to public who can visit it with no charge. Besides the beautiful sight over the town and the sea, we can find in its interior the Sandro Pertini and Renata Cuneo Museum” which includes the collections of the ex President Pertini and the sculptur Cuneo from Savona and the Municipal Archeological Museum .

OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHEDRAL
The church stands in the area of an older Franciscan complex built in 1259. The Cathedral is in baroque style and keeps in its interior a lot of pictorial works coming from different places.
Visit hours: Saturday from 10a.m. to 12 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 5:15p.m. Sunday from 4p.m. to 5:15p.m.

THE SISTINA CHAPEL
The church has an ancient nave with a square presbytery with a dome-shaped roof. It dates back to 1431 and it was commanded by Pope Sistus IV and after the damages suffered during the war, in 1762 Francesco Maria Della Rovere, doge of Genoa, adjusted it to the liking of that period decorating it with beautiful stucco-work in shades of green, yellow and ochre, in a perfect rococo style.
